Becoming Fearless Day #3 – Using the Power of Your Breath to Let Go of Fear at Samasati Nature Retreat in Costa Rica
At Samasati Nature Retreat in Costa Rica, we explore another powerful tool for personal development transformation … yoga and the power of your breath.
Yoga is an integral part of Holistic Belief Reprogramming for a lot of reasons. One of them is breathing. For this trip to Costa Rica, I set an intention to focus on breathing. As many people know, you can neutralize your fear response to many things just by focusing on your breath. Deepen your breath and slow it down, and your thinking immediately becomes more clear. Deepen your breath and slow it down, and you immediately feel more calm. Less reactive. More open.
What a synchronicity, then, that our yoga instructor here at Samasati Nature Retreat has been including intensive breathing exercises with each yoga lesson. I did two full sessions (3 hours total) of yoga with Max’s classes today, and I’m going back tomorrow :)
If you did no other transformation other than become conscious of your breathing, your whole life would change.

Coincidence that tonight I took the initiative to invite every table at the hotel to join us at one big communal table? Perhaps. The first night I was here, everyone sat at separate tables, and honestly it was a little depressing. Last night we made it to five of us at one table. Tonight we had the ENTIRE HOTEL sitting at one table. I went around to each couple one by one and invited them to our table. We kept putting tables together until everyone was sitting together. It was so much fun getting to know everyone. And I have the photo to prove it :)

All this happens because we did not let fear get in the way … that’s all. Letting go of fear means you can approach multiple tables of “strangers” and see them as new friends, and invite them to dinner. Just let go of fear, and watch the magic happen … :)

I have been to Costa Rica twice but never for a retreat like this. A cpl girlfriends and I have talked about doing something like this next winter.
Nature retreat or not, I would love to visit Costa Rica someday. Seen so many wonderful photos and heard the food is fantastic!
Taking deep breaths will certainly calm you down. It can also stop an anxiety attack before that gets out of hand!
Nice post! I love how breathing will slow everything down, when I do it consciously. This hymn, I used to sing and love, just now popped in to my memory, “Breathe on Me Breathe of God.” Ahhh! Last week my yoga instructor had us do a breathing exercise. It’s a great quick exercise that can be done anytime to clear the head.
