So you don’t want to be a lawyer anymore …

Don’t want to be a lawyer anymore?

don't want to be a lawyer anymore

If you don’t want to be a lawyer anymore, you’re in good company …

… but you don’t know what else to do, right? After all, you invested massive amounts of time and money in becoming a lawyer. And if you’re anything like me, you probably did it because you didn’t know what else you could do and make a real living …

You have come to the right place.

Hear ye, hear ye … YOU HAVE A CHOICE.

If you don’t want to be a lawyer anymore, you can learn new skills and build a business on the side until the happy day that you give your notice and walk out that door forever.

If you’re thinking about going to law school (or you are already in law school), perhaps you’ve been reading the latest spate of articles describing the dismal state of affairs for many recent law school graduates. Scary, isn’t it, to graduate with tens of thousands of dollars in debt, and not be able to find a good job?

But I’ve got some bad news for you … even if you DO land a well-paying job as a lawyer, you may find that getting what you thought you wanted doesn’t make you happy.

I was fortunate. I had a wonderful legal job working with wonderful people, relatively reasonable hours, engaging assignments, and actual time in the courtroom, and I felt sad to leave.

But there are thousands of lawyers out there who aren’t so fortunate. There are thousands of lawyers out there who feel miserable and trapped, and because they have crushing educational debt, large mortgages, and other high bills, they don’t feel free to leave.

Don’t Want to Be A Lawyer Anymore and Feel Trapped with No Other Options?

You are not alone. I knew many lawyers who actually longed to be actors or writers, but they didn’t think they could make enough money following their passions to live a full life. Not knowing what else to do, they went to law school.

It all sounds so glamorous when you see it on television. Yet so few lawyers actually get to go to court. And those meals from expensive restaurants and stays at fancy hotels that sounded so enticing when you were in law school don’t taste or feel nearly so good when they come at the price of nearly ALL your free time and your peace of mind.

But it gets worse … you went to law school to help people, right? Then you know how frustrating it is to find yourself on a large document production, sifting through tens of thousands of pages of paper in a windowless room. Or to see people mired in conflict for years over a dispute that probably could have been resolved in a few days in an effective mediation. Maybe, like many lawyers, you’ve experienced extreme stress and even physical symptoms due to the emotional toll of working in the system.

Don’t Want to Be A Lawyer Anymore Because You Can See that the System is Not Working?

How to Attract Money with EFT Tapping You can use the skills you developed as an attorney – like public speaking skills – to create a new career for yourself

Maybe you’ve also seen the emotional toll that our legal system takes on the litigants who find themselves in it. The escalation of conflict. The massive amounts of paper and complexity. The arcane procedures that require people to spend thousands of dollars on resolving even the simplest dispute. The disconnection between people that is created by an “adversarial” system.

If you’re like many lawyers, you’ve probably had enough. But when you imagine saying sayonara, you’re hesitant and conflicted. There are all too few jobs within the legal profession as it currently exists that feel satisfying and enjoyable. If you want to serve the public interest, you may find that your job no longer pays the bills. Perhaps you’ve been intrigued by alternative careers, but you don’t know how to get from A to Z. You don’t want to waste your law school education that you invested in often to the tune of $100,000 or more. You think you’re “not good at business,” otherwise you would have gone to business school. You think it’s too difficult to make ends meet doing what you love.

Don’t Want to Be A Lawyer Anymore? You’ve Come to the Right Place …

I have good news for you. You have come to the right place.

You don’t have to be a lawyer anymore if you don’t want to be one. And your choice does not have to put you in the poor house. You have options.

You have valuable skills.
You can write, you can reason, you can relate to people, and you can persuade. These are valuable skills. You just need a new and much more fulfilling way to apply them.

This is where my system of What Is Holistic Belief Reprogramming? comes in. If you’re not yet familiar with it, HBR is a super-powerful self-development system that vastly accelerates personal growth. It has taken me years and more than $100,000 invested to develop this system, but I can now teach it to you in much less time for much less money.

First, we are going to apply the system to you, which is going to make your transition out of law sooooo much easier. Your fears will melt away, and your confidence will skyrocket. The next step will be your choice. With your new-found confidence and skills, you can either (1) pursue the new non-law career of your choice, or (2) become a holistic life coach like me. (I’ll let you in on a little secret … your legal skills will help you be a really good HBR coach because you understand how to “spot issues,” and that is a very valuable skill when you are coaching clients.) Either way, you can make good money doing what you love. And you can do it much more quickly than you ever dreamed possible.

  1. Almost went to law school myself…. Decided against it because of the statistics you mentioned. Not to mention I wanted personal time :)

  2. I think this can apply to anybody, not just somebody who doesn’t want to be a lawyer anymore. If you are not happy doing a job, you can always learn a new skill. It is very possible.

    • That’s a really excellent point, Jennifer. It’s not just lawyers who are often unhappy in their jobs. Job unhappiness is very common in many professions. It does feel so liberating to be our own boss. Thanks for stopping by.

  3. Trisha Necole Wright says:

There was a time where I thought being a lawyer would be fun, but I don't have the patience for all that schooling lol

    • Hi Trisha,

That’s probably for the best. I’d count myself lucky if I managed not to spend all that time and money on law school.

On the other hand, I have to admit that the skills do come in handy sometimes. There are times in life when the ability to think very clearly and the ability to advocate on my own behalf are very valuable. Plus I learned a lot about belief systems that I now use in coaching people. So it wasn’t totally worthless. I do feel blessed for some of the skills I developed.

      Thanks for stopping by.

      cheers,
      Erika

  4. Yvonne Roga says:

I too know a lot of lawyers who got burnt out. Some have changed careers. It's not fun when you don't like what you do anymore.

  5. Tina Ashburn says:

Very interesting. I know a lot of lawyers who are "burned out" but it's the career they've chosen and they say Once a Lawyer, Always a Lawyer.

  6. Amber NElson says:

That would be hard to give up with law with all the years you put in just to get educated.

  7. Lesley says:

If anyone knows how to get out of the rat race – it’s you! Your intuition, drive and passions really make you the most qualified person to help these lawyers escape their lives and live for themselves. I’m sure they’d much rather be location independent, rather than stuck in an office in a suit turning the same hamster wheel over and over again, wouldn’t they?

  8. Tim Ward says:

I could see being lured in by the prestige while your young and then finding out, maybe this career is not the best fit, you know? It would be hard to walk away too, so much schooling, time invested, etc. – I hope this blesses a lot of people to get out of the trap they are in and live life doing something they love.

    • Hi Tim,

Thanks for your insightful comment. Yes that is exactly how it was. So hard to walk away from it. So much fear about being able to make enough money. So much “loss of identity” letting go of something I’d invested so much in … This is what keeps many people in the legal profession years beyond when they want to be there.

It’s a real testament to how powerful EFT tapping is that I was able to get out smoothly with no financial loss and move on to a much happier career.

      Thanks for commenting :)

  9. Nolan says:

Here we go. Amazing and interesting ideas. I was a lawyer but now i fed up from the law firm jobs and want to do some thing new and exciting. Unfortunately I found all of them here. Thanks
