A San Francisco Evening

Last night was precious to me. I didn’t even have any plans, but that never seems to matter anymore. I ended up going to Ottimista, one of my favorite wine bars, with my neighbor (we’ll call him Neighbor Guy), a send-off before he spends a month abroad in Bombay and Dubai.

Ottimista is a warm and rustic Italian-themed wine bar, and we were sitting at the bar. I thought Matrix Guy was occupied all weekend, but he unexpectedly freed up, so he joined us. Matrix Guy has this hilarious understated sense of humor, and we always end up laughing our asses off about the littlest silliest things. And then by chance another dear friend, we’ll call him California Wine Merchant Guy (CWM Guy for short) arrived and sat on the other side of me at the bar. He’s pretty funny too. So once again I was surrounded by some of my favorite men, LMAO and feeling so supported and happy — I’m starting to get used to this! ;-)

Anyway, it all just felt so warm and full of love. We were joking around, showing each other hilarious text messages. We shared our pizza with CWM Guy’s group, and he shared his pasta with us. The bartenders were wearing red suspenders and these hilarious Santa hats that said “I’ve been naughty” and other great off-color phrases — fantastic conversation starters and be fun to see just how outrageous it could get. It got me thinking that’d be a great gimmick for Mystery’s next Pickup Artist show :-0

I was reminded of this quote from ACIM:

You look still with the body’s eyes, and they can see but thorns. Yet you have asked for and received another sight. Those who accept the Holy Spirit’s purpose as their own share also his vision. And what enables him to see his purpose shine forth from every altar now is yours as well as his. He sees no strangers; only dearly loved and loving friends. He sees no thorns but only lilies, gleaming in the gentle glow of peace that shines on everything he looks upon and loves.

Then Matrix Guy and I went to a party around the corner where we saw more dear friends (including a guy who’s starting to show up in this blog enough now that he needs a moniker, we’ll call him Mogul Guy for now — he could be named Ferrari Guy but that moniker is taken). And the party was filled with so many beautiful people, and I didn’t feel so much like mingling but just soaked up the happy energy there. There were all these hot girls there, so Mogul Guy sent out a “gash alert” as his GF called it, lol, and within 10 minutes the party turned into a sausage fest. Truly hilarious.

I had been drinking so I left my car and Matrix Guy brought me home. Love that guy :-)

A San Francisco Morning

This morning I took a cab to go get my car. It was such a beautiful peaceful San Francisco morning. It rained last night, and the air had this quiet freshness of a City still asleep and cleansed. The morning light still soft and glowing. I drove back to Nob Hill, and usually my parking karma is just unbelievable, but I couldn’t find a space right away. When that happens, I know now there is a reason.

Sure enough, Eva Cassidy comes on the radio singing “Over the Rainbow,” and the music went straight to my heart.

Someday I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me.

Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That’s where you’ll find me.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh why can’t I?

If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can’t I?

And her voice…. Mmmmm, it feels like my whole body is quivering in harmony with the notes and her voice is touching my very soul. Tears are coming to my eyes. So I drive around the block again, still looking for parking, and come up the steep hill on Powell to the very top. It’s so steep my car is almost facing the sky, and there between two tall buildings, is the most beautiful rainbow you have ever seen! While the song is still playing!!! This is the synchronized symphony that my life has become.

And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.

In a moment like this, it feels like almost everything is right with the world.

Though I know there’s still so much work to be done to bring this kind of peace to the whole planet, I trust it’ll all happen in a beautiful Divine order.

Love, hugs, and kisses to everyone.

Please remember, All Too Human And we are all children of God.

p.s. More comic relief. “Mogul Guy” is a double entendre because MG is both a mogul and an unbelievably good mogul skier. Apparently inspired by yours truly, Mogul Guy has now started his own blog: http://mogulguy.blogspot.com/

LMAO :-)
