Times have changed so much from the old days and there is more people out that there that care just about themselves. I have always thought you have put yourself in others shoe to really know how they feel. Sometimes it is not worth the headache and we have to let things as well as people go..

I know a man who treats women terribly, as a common pattern. I’ve known him for 30+ years and he has been through many relationships, and has had 4 wives. He’s treated every single one of them the same. Same patterns, same idealistic treatment on the surface, and totally not that way at home. He’s well-loved by all who meet him (until they get to know him). And even after all of this time, he has no accountability. It’s always anyone’s fault but his own. I feel sorry that he’ll never be content or happy until he finds out that the root of what makes him unsuccessful in relationships is him. He’s 50 now. If he’s going to learn, he’s sure going about it v.e.r.y. slowly. He’s a family member, and I love him for that reason alone, but his character is very very very deliberately shady, and he doesn’t care. I guess your post reminded me of him. It’s sad really, but I washed my hands of it all a long time ago. Hoping you get your heart washed from the pain that resulted from your relationship. I know these things don’t always come easy.

Erika I was in a position similar to you once. It was very very painful for me. There were a lot of lies involved and a lot of money as well. It’s how I discovered EFT. Although EFT helped a lot, I was still in pain. The work by Byron Katie helped to take away that pain. Inquiring about what should be and what he should do, what I need him to do etc. I persistently would inquire about thoughts that arose about how the situation was less than perfect, and eventually, after persistent work, the pain went away. I am now thankful that it happened because it “broke” me and forced me to look deeper inside of myself than I ever have, and because of that, I was able to heal myself (by questioning my stressful thoughts) and gain my freedom. I have been reading your blog and am aware that you know both these techniques, but I just wanted to share my experience :)

I think our society is lacking empathy and compassion in general. It is something that desperately needs to be addressed in our younger generations.
