This morning I received a comment on the last post:
Erika here is a fable that reminds me of what happened between you and E. I think it reaches farther than that to all PUAs and potential PUAS.
A Scorpion wants to cross a river, but he can’t swim. He goes to the frog, who can, and asks for a ride. Frog says, “If I give you a ride on my back, you’ll go and sting me.” Scorpion replies, “It would not be in my interest to sting you since as I’ll be on your back we both would drown.”
Frog thinks about this logic for a while and accepts the deal. He takes the scorpion on his back, and braves the waters.
Halfway over feels a burning spear in his side and realizes the scorpion has stung him after all. And as they both sink beneath the waves the frog cries out, “Why did you sting me, Mr. Scorpion, for now we both will drown?” Scorpion replies, “I can’t help it, it’s in my nature.”
Actually, several people have sent me this story and essentially this same comment.
When I receive comments like this, I seriously wonder whether anyone actually reads the articles on this blog.
My dear readers, the scorpion and frog story is the OLD way of thinking. It does not work anymore.
What does this story tell us? It tells us that there are people in this world who have a harmful nature, that they will never change, and that if we are compassionate to them and try to help them, they will sting us.
This is BULLSHIT.
This is exactly the kind of belief that we ALL need to clear out of our belief systems using What Is Holistic Belief Reprogramming? because, as long as we believe it, it will be a SELF-FULFILLING PROPHECY.
We will go around assuming we can’t trust people, assuming the worst about people, and THAT is what we will deliver to ourselves. That is the picture we will continue to see.
You know what the real moral of the Frog and Scorpion story is? The frog and the scorpion had not radically forgiven each other yet.
The frog was playing innocent, “good” person and had not bothered to reach deep into his belief system and clear out whatever unconscious limiting beliefs, karma, and traumas gave rise to this situation. (Don’t worry, Frog will have a chance to get this right in his next lifetime. We all get infinite chances to get this right. God is very patient.)
Conventional wisdom is to hear the frog story and become LESS TRUSTING.
Erika wisdom is to hear the frog story, find the roots of the negative outcome, clear them the f*** out, and become MORE TRUSTING.
The more trusting we become, not at a conscious level, but at a deeply UNCONSCIOUS level, the less we will have ANYTHING to fear in the world.
It is all perception. Nothing we see is real. We have absolute power to change our minds and thereby change the world we see.
Don’t buy into the Frog/Scorpion bullshit. If you do, you will continue to be a slave in the Matrix, at the mercy of forces that seem to be beyond your control.
Practice radical forgiveness instead.
There are NO bad people. There are only people we have yet to forgive, at an UNCONSCIOUS level.
What Is Holistic Belief Reprogramming? works on the unconscious level. Practice EFT every day.
Allow yourself to let go of conventional wisdom and unforgiving beliefs.
Allow yourself to let go of your judgments and low expectations of others.
Watch the Scorpion turn into your savior before your eyes.
This story remind’s of why you shouldn’t do favor’s for people i learned the hard way. I do believe people can change but I will say for now most are out to sting and have other’s feel there pain. Most just haven’t hit emotional maturity. That’s also why no one should waste their time playing game’s with other people’s inner conflicts. They will have no opportunity to learn and build self awareness. Especially if we want a paradigm shift I believe people will need to learn how to stand on their own two feet with stability, while also having the vision to understand interconnectedness which means you can only go so far on your own. Which i think the more inner work people do they will naturally recognize that outer truth that exist’s and bring us closer to communion.
These are also good beliefs to tap … you can do planetary healing by tapping all the beliefs you mentioned in your comment, plus the specific memories that gave rise to the beliefs.
If I tapped on it I’d be doing favors for people= hell no. I’ve been working on it. I wound up hating myself after I help someone out recently. After I undid the hero role within. really depends but it helps me see where I’m stabbing myself with a knife but then I wound up loving myself a little bit more. Im more careful with charm.
I feel like I have done planetary shifts on this but it’s only a start
I do feel like I have done some planetary shifts on this but it’s only a start
This was a refreshing page, as I researched Aesop's fable.
He was a wise person in producing this, as it did point out the difference in natures between the frog and scorpion (good and evil).
Although they both had different intentions in their relationship, one to help, the other to prove he was right, they both had the same goal. Get to the other side of the river.

I like this post, and the following commentary. I believe that my forgiveness, my compassion can change people, but not necessarily before they harm or kill me, especially because my forgiveness can only affect them as much as I forgive, and I can only forgive so much at my level of consciousness. Maybe this LOC thinking is limiting me.
I still think the crucifixion of an enlightened,
"What does this story tell us? It tells us that there are people in this world who have a harmful nature, that they will never change, and that if we are compassionate to them and try to help them, they will sting us."
I disagree with this interpretation.
The story is a parable about how we allow ourselves to ignore the "NATURE" of a thing. Sure, you
Anonymous 11:47 am,
Again, this is a different version of "forgiveness" than is usually taught in our culture.
This version of forgiveness means letting go of our judgments of another person so thoroughly that the other person changes. Or rather, our perception of the other person changes.
Thus, the Scorpion would no longer sting the frog. Instead,
Interesting take on an old story. Unfortunately I must be missing the point.
From the frog's point of view, how would have forgiving and trusting have helped?
From the scorpion's POV, same thing?
Wow, you have some very cool ideas. I Don't see a lot of blogs like yours in this community. I'll definetly subscribe.
I invite all of you to try this, with small things in your life. Start with the small things and work up.
When you find yourself doubting whether someone is going to come through for you on a promise they made, get centered in your own body and find a place of trust and confidence, where you KNOW they are going to come through for you.
It works like magic :)
I agree with Saltzer.
Love may help us let go of fear, but some people will still harm and kill us despite our efforts.
I have no desire to be a martyr, much less an anonymous victim. Forgiveness is not a requirement to feel good about ourselves, and revenge is a part of human nature which is genetic.
Even when we do forgive, we may not forget and take a
Forgiveness does not equal 'stupidity'.
Erika, if u were the frog, would u keep taking the scorpion accross only to be kept getting bitten?
U should be careful of what having egoistic belief that u are on the right path could ultimately do to ur journey
Thanks so much. Geez I should learn to let go better…but I have such a hard on for making my point clearer.
"nobody needs to be resigned to awful-feeling outcomes".
Are we really resigned to them, just because bad outcomes sometimes happen even to good people? Aren't you giving greater strength to so called negative outcomes by trying to avoid them so
So, after reading another's comment, that the frog said no initially and injected his fear of the scorpion's nature…….so for the frog it was a self fulfilling prophecy. If his "intuition" said no, and he went against it…..how did he feel? He expressed his distrust….did he manifest it or merely ignore his inner-guidance system. Perhaps stinging was furthest from the
Erika,
This was so radically awesome and TIMELY for me….I needed that that extra syncronous push at the exact moment I read this post.
AWESOME = )
Here's another version:
Once upon a time, there was a boy who grew up on a farm, isolated from the world.
When he became a young man, he moved to the city. He decided to visit a zoo, as he had never really seen or heard of any animals beyond the barnyard.
When he entered, he saw a tiger and having never seen a tiger before, he said "that is a big cat.&
I loved the story of the scorpion and the frog so my initial reaction to your tweet on this blog post was something negative like "no way, this has got to be bs, she is going to be so wrong".
Turns out I fully agree with what you say here and think it's a great post.
I never actually read that as a story about the frog being too trusting though. I read it as
hey Saltzer,
Thanks for the comment, appreciated, I do feel more heard.
I'm with you on the value of acceptance. This is one of EFT's grounding principles, as it teaches us that "even though I have this [perceived] problem, I still love and accept myself completely." The more the key phrase is repeated, the more love and acceptance we authentically feel
Thanks for addressing this head on in an actual post! I feel honored. I think you have some good points in there, and I'm sure EFT will help some people achieve greater confidence and freedom. I am also guessing that you feel frustrated when you receive several similar messages that seem disconnected from what you've been trying to impart.
I personally don't think the
